IES da Pobra do Caramiñal is a Secondary School located in Galicia, in a coastal municipality of almost ten thousand inhabitants. It has about 440 students enrolled and 60 teachers, and secondary and high school, as well as Vocational Training is taught. The students come mostly from the municipality of Pobra do Caramiñal, and there is a high component of rural origin.
In terms of socioeconomic and cultural situation of families of students, it´s important the absence of many fathers for much of the year due to his work at sea, implying that mothers play a key role in the education of children.
IES da Pobra do Caramiñal is committed to improving the quality of education, participating in multiple training and innovation projects : PLAMBE (improving school library), COMBAS Project (on key competences) Bilingual Sections (CLIL, Content and Language Integrated Learning in the areas of Biology and Geology, Physics and Chemistry and Music), ABALAR (program on ICT competences) Program CUALE (multilinguism), TEI (Tutoring among equals), Teacher Training Plan and finally our Erasmus + projects ( in the past 10 years, we have been working with 14 schools from different european countries). Each one of the projects has it´s own coordinator at school, and teachers and students are involved in the activities planned in each one.
Our school wants to improve the quality of teaching, study and learning, and optimize organization of work at the level of school and classroom, in order to obtain results consistent with what is expected from a 21st century school.
We also want to achieve a higher level of implementation of basic skills in general and technological in particular, as well as promoting multilingualism. Participation in transnational projects is one aspect that our center gives great importance, and allows us to expand European dimension and cooperation with other schools, contacting innovative educational practices and managing methods in different countries.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ERASMUS+
Erasmus + is important
because it makes our world bigger,
and at the same time, smaller.
Because we are not different as we used to think.
Since the moment that you start, everything is a discovery.
You discover huge partners that now are huge friends,
the friends that you didn’t know how to say hello when you cross the door the first time
are the same one that you can’t leave now.
We discover culture, places, new things,
the most different and beautiful that we have ever seen.
Strange foreing and wonderful people;
new languages and, even languages that we thought we knew.
Amazingly, we discovered our home.
New topics: preserving, medical and tecnological industry,
in the pioneer places of these topics..
In general, this makes us better,
makes us more spontaneus,
sociable and dynamic.
For that and more, Erasmus+ is important.
I can’t imagine my school year without a sandwich for lunch or a powerpoint to make.
because it makes our world bigger,
and at the same time, smaller.
Because we are not different as we used to think.
